Loosely translated as "given a bollocking".

Hi Tanya, the throttle cable was in poor condition and snagging so I have a replacement on the way.

Good tips on the fuel line.. its a bit tight so will replace that before I drive it.

As for the crank case ventilation, yes I know I need to do something there but am still researching and deciding what to do. No biggie in the short term.

As for why I changed over? Well it was running like a bag of dicks with the Strommies on it and I had the choice to either become an expert in a complicated Carb or pay someone else and become dependent on them. Alternatively, I could do what I did. I want to keep this car for ever and pass it on to my 3yo, It just makes practical sense.

As for why I Video'd it.. Well refer Owl Mans comments above. There are people with all range of mechanical abilities floating around. I'm way at the bottom end but learning. Sometimes its good to see that that an inexperienced person can do something you are considering and it might just give them the confidence to give it a go themselves.

I'm interested in the "Anonymous" sniper that left a comment on my blog, clearly from this forum. Something about weak mixtures and exploding pistons.. Its currently running rich (I can smell it and plugs are black) and I will be tuning it with an A/F meter, so not sure what the risk is?

          Cheers
          Justin
The only video I can see is JC, am I missing something?

Hi Staggard, I'm intrigued as to why you think the crankcase ventilation is so important. I think its a very minor issue in the scheme of things. Vent to carb, cannister or air. Am I missing something? Seriosly interested to learn.

Funny that sounds just like Stagweber. Unfortunately it is a problem which maybe minor if you have a freshly rebuilt engine, or major, if engine is a bit worn and we are talking cars which are well over 30 years old, so some wear is inevitable. It is a problem you do not have until you bin the Strombergs. The solutions are as you say, but if not designed properly will have their own side effects, such as PCV valves sucking oil out of engine and weakening the mixture. However I would urge you not to vent to air, this used to be done up to the 60's, will give Stags a bad name and the vile smell make passengers sick. please don't go there.

                I hope you are lucky.

                John.

Vince, I was not making light of this or taking the p**s but as john say's ( in a way) when you modify ( hope thats right) there can be side effects, and this subject I have no expericnce of on Stags ( only used Webber's in racing ) There has been extensive discussion on Russ's thread that has pretty much coverd all the pro's and con's. I wish you all the best with your conversion. Graham

                          anyways.....

I'm considering running this catch can between crankcase and airfilter.
liquids get caught, gases get reburnt.. Other than the occasionally draining, would that solve the problem?

Affordable performance gauges. Boost, Oil pressure, Wideband Air fuel ratio AFR, Exhaust gas temp EGT, coolant temp, oil temp, volts, air pressure, dual intercooler temp, fuel level

I've bought some supplementary gauges off these guys and they are fantastic.

                          Cheers
