I had what I thought was a knackered su pump so replaced it with a new su pump. Recently decided to rebuild repair the old one. Once I got my head around it .I took out the points cleaned them put them back (15mins) and it now runs like a good one. This could almost be done without removing the pump itself. I didn't bother resetting the tab stops on the points as the tolerances are fairly large in any case. One improvement that does need to be made is a mesh filter to be added to the end of the fuel pick up in the tank. Mike

      Guys

Dont expect an SU electronic pump to be available anytime soon - I had one on order from Rimmers since the beginning of March and the date fore delivery kept slipping back until my patience ran out at the beginning of June when I cancelled the order (Knowingf they came from Burlen's I spoke to them a few times and they blamed supply of components to them for the delays) . I have a non-standard pump which was pushing out 6psi and a hot starting (overfuelling) problem which I hoped would be helped by a pump supplying the correct fuel pressure at 3 psi.

In the end I left my non-standard one in place and fitted a Fuel King with the gauge , dialled down to 3psi. That, with a revist of the (Strom) carb adjustment , she's running a treat now with no hot-start issues. :-)
