chrisOriginally posted by V Mad View PostDave, if you cut the bracket at the top, you should be able to lift it out to repair. Then just drop it back in afterwards and it will stay in place. Sir Isaac will see to that.
its hard to get at the bracket, because your working from behind and cant see what your doing if you know what i mean, there are two other way though, from the front drill out the braket top and bottom, and fit nuts and bolts to refit it, or when looking at the inner wing to the right of the adjustment plate drill a big hole ( you nead a big hole as the body work stick out there ),then the adjustment plate can slid out side ways, but both ways are a lot of work

I just had the same palava with the door catch on my Sunbeam. I thought, 5 minute job to remove the backplate; WRONG. Theres almost no room to get in there, and you cant see whats holding it.Originally posted by new to this View Postchris

I did manage to remove it eventually but getting it back was even worse, it took ages.
Ah well, at least its done now. On to the next job; fit the lowered front springs on the stag.

There are 2 sets of captive nuts, 1 single on top & 2 on the bottom, as per pics. Spot welds, circled could be drilled out and the holding plate prized out to free the doule hole item, resecuring with a rivet or self tapper perhaps.
Hope these help.
