Here's a photo of the mark in the radiator, I don't know if you can make it out but the rubbing is just at the top of the fan blades arc. Is this the kind of thing worn engine/gearbox mounts will do?

I know I need a new radiator and viscous fan and don't want to put the new stuff on, only for it to clobber the rad again.

    Thanks,

    Floyd.

Hi everyone, I've just brought a 1973 mk2 in french blue, i'ts been of the road for 5 years and I'vestarted recommisioning it. My other car is a mk1 GT6 and I've been amazed at how much more complex the Stag is so I need a bit of help.

      1. The petrol overflow pipes were terminated in the 2 connectors on the bottom of the air box thermic valve, from what I can gather this is wrong, they should go into a `t' piece but I dont know where to terminate the pipe from the `t' piece, does it just dangle towards the floor or has it got a proper place to go?

      2. The airbox thermic valve has 2 connectors on the bottom, I think a hosegoes to thetop of the airbox from 1, does anything attach to the other, or is it left empty?

      3. My fan spins freely when the engine is off and the radiator has a score mark in it from the fan, am I right in assuming the fan shouldnt spin and the mark in the radiator is from the blades bending as there speed isnt regulated by the viscous fan? If so is there anything to fix on the viscous assembly or is it a throw away and buy a new one job.

That's it for now but I'm sure I'll be back with many more questions,

      Thanks,

      Floyd.

Thanks Steve, I'll take you up on that offer but it won't be for a few months as I'm sure I'llhave a whole load more bits that I need to have a look at and I'll try and do it in one visit.

        Cheers,

        Floyd.

          Hi Floyd,

I replaced my viscous fan coupling with a new one and now I can hardly flick it by 1 blade pitch. The difference in air movement with the new coupling is amazing.
