The Rilsan driveshafts didn't have any buy it now price on them, the bidding started at £150 and that's what they went for. I'm not sure whether Tony Hart's are Rilsan coated - it doesn't say so in his ad - if they are he really should mention it since it's a good feature.
The Datsun shafts are more expensive because you have to get hold of the shafts - not cheap (& postage or collection), 4 new UJs, machining, locate and purchase good s/h triumph halfshafts. It then takes hours stripping both the triumph units and Datsun ones, then strip, clean and re-grease the Datsun shafts, machine and build up.
Incidentally - the best grease for your halfshaft splines and in the UJs is Lithium Complex EP2 Red Grease. A good greasing of the original units could get rid of any twitching.
hi tony,i have been offered a diff and a pair of driveshaft assemblys all good from a triumph 2000,will these fit my stag? so i can then get my own ones reconditioned
Steve the 2000 shafts will fit if MK2 but the diff most likely is the wrong ratio. If I remember correctly they were 4.1:1 on themanual upto 1975and 3.7:1 on the auto(manual after '75).
Theauto one will be ok for an auto Stag but the earlier manual one no good not unless you into traffic light drag racing!

cheers stuart, mine's a 1972 mk1.1/2 i think, i really only need the driveshafts will they fit??
If you have bought the bare shafts, then you have to fit them to your existinginner flanges and outer hubs with universal joints.
The same seller occasionally sells complete driveshafts with the Datsun sliding joint. I haverecently boughta pairof these from him. He frequents this forum under the name of tonypy1. Took me less than 2 hours to fit both shafts yesterday. Any hint of 'twitch' has now gone, hopefully for good.
Dave
hi dave, hate to say it but i was bidding for those also, did you know they had a £325 bin at the start??
That is the fun of eBay. He actually had 2 sets on recently with a start price of £250 and BIN of £320. Isnapped up the first set at £320. The second set stuck at £270 for a while and I was beginning to think I had been a bit rash, but theyeventually went for £370. I'm happy!
Dave
i had a punt on those too Dave, i have found that i have too many jobs that don't really need doing lining up, its that i will need to do it one day scenario.
Just got myself a pair of 180b drive shafts so was wondering if any of you guru's can give me a blow by blow description of what is needed to convert over to fit the stag.
I was wondering if the Yolk of the drive shaft could be machined without removal from the hub?
I have read the Technical article on the members pages and it seems straight forward?
