Not so far from you! Chris Vmad is right. The new bulb holders are rubbish as they dont earth 99% of the time. I soldered an earth wire to each bulb holder. Then make sure the connectors are making good contact and get a good grip or else they will drop off as soon as you think they are working!

Re bulbholders, if you're really lucky you can occasionally find ones already made with an extra terminal for an earth, rather than relying on it earthing through the body of the holder

ie 4 terminals for the stop/tail holder and 3 for the others.

I was looking for some a while ago and Glenn spotted some at an autojumble we went to.
