That's a shame. I was so impressed with the build quality on mine. Yes, it went back to the dealers to have the wing mirror mechanism checked and the Xenon bulbs replaced (not cheap) and the general servicing, but it was a great car. Bloody fast too (got it up to 220kmh on the autobahn - it just loved to cruise at high speed, very smooth at 180 or 200kph). Also, I found that the on-board computer and SATNAV was more user-friendly and functional than on the BMW...

Great fun but phone poles to the gallon so it had to go
My big regret with selling a car was my '68 SWB Series 2a. Like yours it had a RV8 from a SD1, plus full roll cage and 4 point harnesses. I used to trial it with the local club, but ended up having to sell it because I needed the money I loved the noise, and the acceleration with the 4.11 diffs was incredible! I didn't actually find the economy any worse than with the original 2 1/4 petrol - probably because the V8 was hardly having to work. Boy racers were dealt with easily on the road, and it would go just about anywhere off it Maybe 1 day I'll have another, but for now I'll settle for the Stag.

out of my "old" cars it would the 1954/5 Austin A90 six I bought this when I was about 14 for £40 and spent my mid teens restoring it. 49,000 miles and one owner from new. Sold it to my Dad to finance my first proper "road" car and Cortina 1600E. My Dad sold it on a few years later so not sure what became of it. This shows it after it was restored it was grey originally.

Modern cars I have two regrets
One selling My Mercedes E55 that was the fastest most comfortable and reliable performance car I have owned. Nearly 500HP and such a stealth machine. In 49,000 miles I only forked out for Tyres and service. Oh and a fair bit of juice This is the view most saw of it

Then I had a special love for my XK which was a beautiful car which I eventually sold as I convinced myself I needed a diesel to do the mileage I was doing when I set my own business up. I do really miss that car
it had just about every box ticked on the options list and I can honestly say I enjoyed cleaning and polishing it almost as much as driving it

Boring diesels now I hate the noise they make at start up and around town, but on a run they come into their own sadly.
Although my mileage has reduced the cost of juice has gone up massively in the last five years so still hard to justify going back to a screaming V8, hence why I like the Stage and the lovely noise she makes, she may not be fast but I love the noise and smell of a good old petrol engine
        Cheers Glyn

We've not got a good record of selling cars - still seem to have most of them and currently all street legal.

Only ever sold 3 and DON'T regret selling a) Mini Clubman - rust and only ran on 3 cylinders, b) Vauxhall Cavalier was nice but had intergalactic mileage and c) Renault Laguna simply for being French.

No regrets with any of the cars I sold - usually the replacement was a better model.
However I do regret selling some of my other possessions such as :-

                    • My Jefferson Airplane & Moody Blues LPs plus my collection of old "78" speed vinyl records.
                    • My Hornby Dublo & Wrenn model trains
                    • My first good 2-piece Snooker cue & case
                    • My collection of Dinky Toys & Meccano set
                    • My long black wavy hair to the Barbers shop
                    • A signed Geoff Duke Oil Painting
                    • My freedom when I got married

                      no 7.jpg

Got bored one winter so built this. I turned more heads driving this more than any other car, problem was I could not take it anywhere without having to answer a dozen stupid questions every time I got out of it. I should have kept it for the advertising value

Love the look of that as you say great advertising value too
if you did that over a winter you did extremely well, I'm still working on my mini after two year. Although I do leave it alone for a while due to demands of swmbo wanting this or that decorating or landscaping etc.
                        cheers Glyn

I think back and out of all the cars I have owned, apart from my first Magenta Stag that I wish I still had are :
My first Mk1 Cortina 1500 GT in White
My first Mk2 Cortina 1600E in Aubergine
And my MK2 Cortina 3.0V6 Jeff Uren Savage in Red. It was built on a !600E 2dr bodyshell which were only made for Export..(what a car it was back then,it used to scare the life out of me)
Bit of a theme going here..

The car I loved but hated equally was my Lotus Elan +2. I think it was off the road longer than on..

1970 Ginetta G15, ran it for 3 years, it was quite a wreck when we parted (in those days the bank manager cut up those new fangled 'Access' credit cards with remarkable frequency) Regulaar problems included total electrical failure, bits of bodywork flying off and the waterfall from the webasto roof and windows whenever it rained. Also improbably a Citroen Dyane 6 (that's the 602cc variant, not 6 cylinders) which was an eccentric delight to drive, one you could really thrash and nobody would notice ...except the poor passengers.
Both rare and commanding respectable prices now.
