Gauges behaving strange

Hi

Was out driving in the sun today when suddenly the water temperature indicator dropped from half to quarter and the fuelgauge from half to almost zero. After 5 miles or so they both likewise suddenly was OK again. Any thougts on what could have caused that?

Maybe the voltage stabiliser playing up which attached to the back of the speedo...

I agree with Sam, voltage stabiliser. An easy and cheap fix for a change!

Anyone know if this is a standard Lucas part or a "Stag-special"?

but before condemning it make sure it is earthed!

There should be an earth lead connected to the body of the speedo but it can drop off.

yeh make sure its earthed-fitted a replacement-couldn't be bothered to fiddle and get old one off back of speedo so just taped up and pushed to back of dash oh no doesn't work-fitted earth wire-spot on

Tightend the earth-cable and since then everything is working perfect. Since it been a while i guess/hope that´s it.
