Petrol Pump Puzzler

Well spotted Mike.

Clutching at Straws I guess, but it's a bit of a teaser and Julian's done all the logical checks. I'd be interested in hearing the conclusion. Would it be worth running both (all?) pumps on the bench in isolation of all other parts of the car, then cutting off the supply to see if they stop ticking? Usual safety disclaimers apply.

Beat me to it Chris, it was destined to be a 'then again....'

I have to wonder if the pump would stop ticking if the supply is clamped or blocked off just before the filter / bubble...??
