It doesn't work or at least not for me. I don't have the pictures any more, but I made out of 1 1/2 plastic waste pipe with a hose tail connection on the top at the top and bottom then connected in line so that it formed an air break. So when fluid expanded up the breather into the air chamber it lost momentum and drained back down into the box. This was on a BW35 but it still dumped oil on the floor. And before its said the filler tube was blocked off so nothing came out of there. So along with its other problems it got dumped in favour of a 65 all problems solvedOriginally posted by bluehorizons View PostExcellent. Many thanks gents! I realize now part of the problem is that I've got a Federal Stag being here in the USA, so that's why i was a bit confused! By the way, mine is French Blue too!
After dropping inside the wing, do you guys coil up excess hose or bring it straight down to below the frame?
I wonder if there is some value, and way, to fashioning a sort of tray/cup that could collect and keep the ATF that would come through the breather, and then allow it to drain back in as needed. At least that way we wouldn't be spilling onto the garage floor or anywhere else parked. Of course it would need to protect fluid contamination, but generally is that a silly idea?

Looking at this it's the same side as the dip stick. No 154775

Hi mike, I don't want to sound like a know it all, but it has to be said. You are correct in that you can use Dexron when modern friction materials have been used on clutches and bands, but it must be made very clear that Dexron must never be used with existing materials . Also in my opinion blocked oil ways in valve blocks or galleries will cause gearbox malfunction not spillage. There is a restrictor valve in the oil cooler return ( page 44.24.22 workshop Manuel) designed to control the flow back to the box. GrahamOriginally posted by Mike J View PostI have recently had my 35 rebuilt. Now I use Dexon3 as recommended by the chaps that did the work. I think a lot of the spillage issues are due to blocked oil ways. I would suggest a couple of oil changes and blast through the oil cooler which in my case was "slow".

Jeff, Can't see your picture? I have had a stag BW35 out 3 times in recent years to do a rear main . I would have sworn it's on the N/S but looks like the memory is lacking according to DaveOriginally posted by Jeff View PostIan,

Still can't see where the breather pipe fits. Is the 'stub' missing from picture?
Jeff.
Sorry for giving you bum information if it is the case, I shall have another Doombar and hang my head in shame

The breather fits on the black spigot. I'll have one of those Doombars if you've got any to spare Ian.....

Like I said Dave I would have put money on it. But big enough to admit my memory had got it wrong. To far to come with a beer but our local Tesco Express do 3 for £5 if that helpsOriginally posted by DJT View PostHere you go. Finally managed to get a picture from t'internet:
