As soon as the new badges go on sale it will be funny to see a rush of people selling their badges .

Thanks Edd. I know you did, but I was still smarting from the fact that the guy wouldn't budge from £75 when I tried to buy it, then you came along half an hour later to buy it for £45! I must have had "MUG" written on my forehead at the time....

He said to me he wouldn't budge as he paid £40 for it . I then pointed at it and said with a smile " It's still there " he sighed so I think you wore him down

I think that proves the saying "the second mouse gets the cheese" as the opposite to "the early bird........"

SOCTFL has a project in progress to re-establish manufacture of badges using the original tooling - this will include the front grille badge as well rear wing badges for both Mk I (grey) and Mk II (black). The greatest challenge is to find a supplier capable of applying the paint and vacuum metalising to the blanks with sufficient precision to achieve a consistently high quality product. We hope to make the new badges available in 2015.

We have made some progress on the manufacture of the blanks so the project is on track.

          Cheers

          Paul

I knew this would happen soon, makes you wonder about how dodgy the auction is and if it's been shill bidded up to make people think they are worth loads ready for launch of the new repro badges or am i just been silly?

Ian. Safely assume? That's asking a bit much! The tool that is being used this time to mould the badges is very probably one of the originals, as it makes all three at time, which would have been logical. The replacement inserts have been a tight fit for as long as I can remember, so every effort will be made this time to see that they are a decent fit, by checking them against a genuine plinth before they are printed. If there is a problem with a non-original plinth, then it may be necessary for customers to do a bit of fettling themselves. Modifying the tool is not really an option.

I am looking forward to getting a nice set of grey ones

In the past, new ones I have bought develop lots of small cracks which look unsightly. Do we know if there is likely to be an improvement in how long they last?

The acrylic material that is being used for these badges was ordered specially for the job, after taking specialist advice. It should therefore last well. I have no idea what was used when they were last being made.
