    Hi All,

Began winter overhaul after buying Stag in October and being laid up after operation on my shoulder I set about fitting external water pump, re-locating alternator, stripping and cleaning carbs, removing sump to check mains/big ends, replacing front pulley oil seal, removing and checking oil pump, romping distributor to clean and fit Accuspark electronic ignition (to replace ageing Luminition), new dist cap rotor and leads now I can't get it to fire up.

I've check the distributor, TDC marks on front pulley aligned and rotor pointing to no.2 but nothing, checked all wiring i've touched/cleaned, checked carb float levels etc, getting cold and fed up, any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Are you sure it's timed properly. Did you have the dizzy out. When you have the timing mark aligned on the pulley and the dizzy on 2 are the valves closed on No 2, both lobes on the cam should be at the top not near the cam bucket

Said on the assumption you have a spark and fuel being delivered

From what you say the timing is 180 degrees out. turn the engine until you have the valves in the correct position then remove the dizzy and refit it with the rotor pointing to no 2.

Spot on Ian, turned distributor 180 after checking No 2 bingo.

Silly mistake to make and obvious when you think about it, perhaps more thinking.

              Thank Ian
