I don't either Julian but it doesn't look like either of us will get a brush card for £10. Also everyone knows I am always careful what I say

Two weeks ago several TRs, my Stag included, and a couple of MGs lost wiper arms in a VERY heavy downpour, I was lucky to obtain a used replacement and my brother who ran a British car repair shop for almost 40 years, suggested stopping both wiper arms in the 90 degree position, drilling a hole 90 degree to the left through the arm and just into the rack. Remove the arm and tap the hole 8-32 and screw in a set screw,so that it locks into the rack, easier to do than replace the 43 year old racks and disturb my newly leather covered dash..

One problem solved but now the real reason for my using the forum, when I turn the wipers off they go down to the bottom but then come up about 15 degrees no matter what I do. My Stag is a US LHD Mk 2 and I see from Rimmers that there is both a thermal delay 1599943 AND a parking switch 12453A,before I replace one or both is there a way to adjust the parking spot so that it lies just above the chrome screen trim. at the bottom.

The parking switch can be adjusted. From memory, there are a couple of cross head screws clamping the switch in position. These need to be slackened off to allow the switch to be slid (tapped) along in the appropriate direction. Fiddly, as the screws are underneath the wiper motor and you may find it easier to access by removing the motor holding clamp.

Mine currently switches off ~10deg before proper-parking position, but I'm happy with this as it gives me a double time interval on intermittent position, which I prefer to the normal interval. First sweep stops short, the second sweep just goes through park position and back to 10deg, third sweep covers the windscreen.

Thank you Jonno, I will attempt to adjust it in the next few days. What part does the thermal switch play?

You could look in the Technical Section of this forum where the delay circuit is explained, the wiring diagram is given, and the disassembly of the different parts of the wiper motor described with photos.

That's the type of info that I have been looking for, thanks Drew.

Consider the kit car route...car builder solutions do the motors, tube you cut and flare the ends and wheel boxes so a complete new system is possible.
from memory the gear differences are to change the swept arc of the wipers not the speed.
with slight wiring mods and an additional relay intermittent speed can be added.
