I have used the dishwasher many times for light lenses etc with great success.

My wife whinged a bit when I used the pressure cooker pan to heat up waxoyl - the house had a kind of newly restored smell for ages.

Am considering using the Dishwasher to clean some aluminium parts and nuts/bolts, light lenses (separate wash) etc.
Has anyone used this before and if so did you use normal dishwasher cleaning detergent, or some other degrease etc?
Also anything that has avoided any giveaway oil smears stains, marks in machine afterwards to swmbo
      Thanks in advance

Plastic expansion tanks etc come up nice.
After using dishwasher to clean parts, just run another cycle with a dishwasher cleaner in it, or if haven't got one run an empty cycle with 2 dishwasher tablets, and hot if possible.
On a seperate note, if your dishwasher stops working and won't drain, check that it's not blocked by a orange or lemon pip behind the filter, guess how I know that one (you may need a torx screwdriver to access where the pip is)
