Moved mine using a TH bracket but had to beef it up a bit as there was quite a bit of vibration, really easy to change the alternator now, I know because the Chinese one I bought that was sold as genuine Lucas only lasted a few miles.

I think I might buy the E J Wards bracket. I have already bought a new £70 beefy Alternator so don't want it Rusting ! Thanks for the replies.

Which 12V Ballast Coil should I buy ?

Which Radiator should I buy ?

I still need a MK1 Fan although I might be better off buying a MKII Fan and Coupling.

If your buying a 12v coil you don't need the ballast. I have a 12v flame thrower coil and my ballast wire is disconnected.

I bought a 4 row radiator from Rimmers about 8 years ago, still works!

Thanks the Reply Jason. Is it just a Case of Taping the old Ballast Wires up ? Before I get my Team of Merry Men to put the Car back together, I will be getting an Auto Spark chap who I have used before to Check out the Loom. I have Issues with Old MK1 Alternator Wires Cut off in Engine Bay which need to be Removed too. He could possibly do away with the old Ballast Wires too but I am not Sure they can be Removed of Just Taped Up.

Any Advice on the Electrics ? Loom ? Thanks Nick

Thats all I did with mine Nick. Mine is a MK2 so only has a ballast wire. If yours is MK1 then it has a resistor, just bypass the resistor!

I still prefer the 6 volter and the Booster wire

P1090158.JPGP1090156.JPG Hi Guys, thought I would add to this thread rather than start a new one, please take a look at my photo's and see if you can see anything that I should change before I make the Wiring harness, I have read on the forum that you can take the 2 large brown cables down to the battery feed on the starter and the just the small wire over to the std connector block.

Thanks for your comments & help in advance

Ps , I decided to move the alternator so it's easier to change when it packs up as it did at the national.

Hi CT. You are correct about the wiring. The thin brown/yellow connects to the original plug under the washer bottle, if your new alternator has a seperate spade you need to run a thin brown to the other pin on the connector under washer bottle.

when you fitted the alternator bracket, did the back of the alternator hit the hot air pipe ?

                            Thanks Dave

Yes I removed that , it only touched a bit was going to cut it back slightly but as that hot air option will no longer be useable will probably just leave it off, I'm going to use the row of cable clips that pushed into the inner wing on the nearside at the factory (them 2 leg barbed things) to hold the cables away from the manifold. I have some off cuts of stainless I may make a heat shield later.

I think there may be just enough room to move the hot air bracket and hold it to the manifold with jubilee clips
