Air Filter Paint Supplier?

An update for this thread. I have just stripped and painted an air filter box (thanks Staguar). I used BiltHamber Etchweld, followed by two coats of Carplan Hi-Build Grey primer. As a top coat I used Carplan Grey 03, as this looked quite close to the Ford Dove grey I used for my existing filter box. I am quite pleased with the results. Going to leave it for a couple of weeks before buffing it and fitting the sticker.

I think its 631 french grey or 632 depending on your eyes,

Mine is being powder coated at mo in 631,I matched it to the original paint under the carb elbow gasket using a colour chart at the powder coaters.

I will post some pics when I get it back.

I repainted mine air box with ford stardust silver, nothing like the original colour but it matches and cam covers and i had some in the shed at the time

I have also painted the air scoop thing, the wiper motor and bonnet catch in the same colour

I would keep it black imho,you might find you have an overkill of silver/grey but thats just my personal view.

Could be, will only tell once refitted but i still looks alot better than rust and peeling paint coloured

Couldnt agree more Stu.The cam covers are the best example of this,peeling paint and rust on these,spoil the whole engine bay.

Not my choice of colour, BUT, it does look brilliant ! Any trouble getting the pulley off ? Martin.

Yes loads,left it on in the end and cleaned the inside of the pulley the best i could with little wire brushes

Just fitted today, my powder coated airbox, finished in BS 631 french grey along with freshly painted cam covers, I thought I had used Ford Stratos silver, didnt notice until I had finished painting that I had picked up Ford Stardust Silver

Mick you must be very pleased --that looks excellent. How much did it cost to get it powder coated?

Yes I am pleased with the result, the powder coating man charges min of 50.00. so I had the bonnet bar and plates done in satin black, and all were sandblasted/stripped, also had the fan shroud that fits under the valance and the boot lock shroud blasted and I have painted them myself, total was 100.00, could have been cheaper to do it myself but don,t think the result would have been as good.
