2 x left hand carbs

No need to apologise Mike - as I mentioned earlier, it's amazing how we can go wrong on things that we think we know like the back of our hands
Besides, my deleted post had, incorrectly, said that the vac take off came from the pedestal
But we're still no closer to helping rwdstag with his query. Personally I'd try looking for a proper carb but whether it would work if he drilled and tapped one of his two left carbs I'm not entirely sure.
Cheers
Julian

Hi, yes you can do it. I (knowingly) bought two left hand NOS carbs at such a low price that it was worth having a go at converting one. This was the best part of 20 years ago so there are no doubt bits that I have forgotten but drilling and tapping the body was not difficult. What did take a lot more concentration was drilling the tiny hole that goes in to the carb venturi. Unfortunately I cannot remember quite how I lined everything up to get this drilling in the right place.Originally posted by rwdstag View Posthopefully the first of many questions .
ok we got her running BUT after thinking the carbs are really in great condition I go to put the advance retard on to the right hand carb and guess what no connector.
So my question is can I drill and tap a hole fore the brass connector or do I need to find a right hand carb ???
What I did have though was an old carb to copy and I think without this I would not have tried to do it.

Julian. I think it is safe to assume the R.H.carb, or perhaps even both of them are not "Stag". I doubt if just drilling and tapping a hole to take the adaptor will do the job, as the small airway from it, down in to the venturi, is unlikely to be there either. I think another carburettor is the answer, or a pair would be even better.
Mike.

being they seam to be in really good nick and I think are stag carbs they will be ok to move the car around the workshop which is all they need to do at mo so will try and find a knackered right hand carb to study and copy WTF was some idiot putting 2 x left carbs on anyway . As I am finding out this sums up the poor old girl as she seams to have been a bitzerOriginally posted by Lingen View PostJulian.
