Very rare, they were polished aluminium from the factory, not polished stainless steel as been available for the last 25/30 years on the aftermarket!
That's interesting! I bought them second hand and then had them polished. They have the odd pit but for that age they are in very good condition! Craig
Trouble with self tappers is that they can chip the paint when screwed in if wrong size used, I will use pop rivets so as not to damage the paint. Silicon bead or double sided tape on leading edge and trailing edge should(hopefully) stop water getting in and if it does, allows it to get out, however not intending to use in rain should not present a problem unless get caught out.
I only do what the voices in my wife’s head tell me to do!
