I know of a passenger one already, so I need to find a drivers one. A couple of rain gutters, and a battery box to tack in and we are bgood to get it off to paint. And I need to decide whether to seam seal the wing to windscreen panel gap. (I have no idea what it looks like below the wings, and have no intention of finding out short term!)

Yep that looks the same colour. Its really nice , so Im going to go with it again .

I think I may have some Mk 2 drivers door lock/latch bits your welcome to FOC, I'll hunt them out this week if you want them.

That would be very kind of you Ian. Ive got some hinges so I can hang the doors , bonnet and boot to make sure they gap up ok then tack in a lower support panel for the battery and a couple of rain gutters. Im going to use SOCTFL ones simply so I dont have to worry too much about fettling them for hours. Of course what might happen is I try to fit the gutters and discover the A post is swiss cheese, but I will cross that bridge as and when!

Took the hard top off yesterday and have delivered the yellow beasty to Yorkshire Triumphs (Peter and Richard) to have a new soft-top and exchange frame fitted. The soft-top is coming from Aldridge's, not sure where the frame is sourced from. I'll report back after Easter when the job is done, for those of you in or near God's Own County that may be looking for a new top.
Meanwhile, Happy Easter one and all. Easy on those eggs!

Removed radiator for repairs, started to remove old canvas hood to make way for my custom mohair hood.

Started taking a pair of heads off (not mine) for HGF - 7 of 10 studs came out, 3 in the RH head snapped off. The other 7 were bloody hard work and gives me an idea of how hard I'm going to have work to get the RH head off. Looks like I'll have to lift the head a bit then bin the timing chest to tie back the tensioner and swing the chain wheel bracket back.

Will do battle with them in the morning hopefully

After taking the petrol tank & alternator to a garage, I brushed, hoovered, and washed the boot to get rid of the remaining smell of leaked petrol, and tidied up all the wiring in there (making it more out of the way and safer), as it was a bit loose and "higgle de piggeldy", and an electric short in there could easily have set the car on fire.

I will need a complete new set of boot grommets as the leaked petrol has disintegrated the ones that were there. Also surprised to find what was beneath the boot boards (not had them up for a while), all sorts of things I never thought I still had, such as a tin of touch up paint, various hoses and gaskets, and a small bottle jack. At least I didn't find any cucarachas - looks like they don't like the smell of petrol, but I did once find one living in my engine compartment.

When I first removed the petrol tank I noticed that it was held in place with only 2 bolts when there should be 4, but I did find a 3rd bolt on the boot floor, but no fourth one, it looks as though it had been removed once before prior to my ownership, and whoever did it hadn't properly bolted it down again afterwards!

To make you feel a bit better when my tank was leaking i needed to carry on using the car so had a 5 gallon drum in the boot full of petrol held in place by a bungee cord.

I've seen an LPG conversion with gas bottle strapped with bungee cords onto rear seat. Hopefully not one of the gasman's.

                            Hi H,

Indicates high internal resistance within the battery which is consitent with your "tired" description, and may be due to serious lead sulphate on the plates. I'd leave it on for a couple of days and see what happens. I think the C-Tec has a battery conditioning mode which would be worth trying, but ensure good ventillation and don't create sparks in the vicinity as it will give off some hydrogen during this process (eg switch off the charger at the mains before disconnecting the croc clips).

I have a C tec battery conditioner (unsure of the model) it wouldn't charge my battery from flat even being left on for a few days, had to put my normal charger on the the conditioner is able to "top up" the charged battery

If you have another battery to hand, connecting the two in parallel and then connecting the charger to both can sometimes get things moving.
