Fitted a recon brake master cylinder. I went for a re-sleeved one as plenty of advice on here to avoid the TRW new ones.
Fortunately I remembered to prime it first and then bleed it locally by loosening the outlet pipe screws. Pedal is now hard without having to bleed individual wheel cylinders. Now for the road test
PS: Road test was good. Next brake job is to find out why there is some vibration on braking at speed. Maybe the disks have too much run out?
Finished the first stage of the Battery relocation and upgrade. All went very well and I'm happy with results, especially zero voltage drop at the front bulkhead post.
Pictures, words and music will be on a later, seperate thread.

What load did you have on the circuit? V Drop increases with load.
Drove back from Anglesey in pouring rain, traffic queued for miles on A55 then same on M56 from Queensferry to Runcorn exit , journey took 4 1/2 hours, normally 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 hours.
But the Stag behaved great, defiantly no leaks from the new hood or anywhere else, engine ran very well and MPG looks reasonable, will check accurately tomorrow.
Feet up glass of red, bit of football and a early night.
Just came back from a 3 day 800 km round trip to southern Saskatchewan with our local Brit car club which included about 25 cars in total.
Our Stag behaved impeccably. It was certainly designed well for long trips and cruising.
Fitted new sun visor rubbers as I was fed up with the sun visor swinging backwards when I accelerate hard!
Also swapped the tyres from front to rear to even out the wear, as we will be going on our annual 2000 mile trip round France in a few weeks time.
I also had to tweak a front wheel bearing to the next hole on the locknut as I found a little play in the nearside front.
Tonight I will check the gearbox oil level, and driveshaft UJs for play.

Jonno
Jonno,
I just wanted to ensure that Battery post voltage and voltage at the new front bulkhead post were similar without any load. Using back to front cable with a 12mm Copper conductor seems to provide that as the drop along the cable was undetectable to 3 decimal places. I'm sure this is only a rule of thumb but it does give a little confidence.

Is that 12mm dia copper or cross section area?
Sorry but no load tests are totally meaningless, I guess you are measuring with a high impedance digital multimeter, you would still get undetectable voltage drop using the thinnest of thin wire. Turn everything on and see what the drop is.

John,
You're right, I should have qualified 12mm as Diameter. As a quick guess the cross-sectional are would be around 110mm. I also agree that a no-load drop test isn't definitive, its about as meaningful as a conitinuity test, but even that has it's uses.
I have shortcut the selection of the cable diameter by using Jaguar's approach to their own rear to front cables. I took that and other items from a Jaguar XJ8 (X308) using some 'back of beermat' logic - If it runs the front end of a car like that, it'll be nicely over-engineered for the Stag.
And cheap, e.g. free!
Anyhow, we can discuss all this and more when I write it up on another thead.

Steve
