Russ - does your Aunt have a spare engine hidden around somewhere? Richard have you a spare TD - TF 21 engine hidden in the shed? My Alvis Grey Lady has serious coronary problems - a weakness of the TC21/100 series. I'll try and attach a photograph. Apparently a number of my fellow AOC owners run the slightly more modern engine, and this might be the cheaper option.

Sorry Nigel, Ruth wouldn't have carried a spare anything - even the "little man" who was previously charged with its care had gone off to the US on a permanent basis (appropriate because judging by his standard of maintenance and what he would charge, he was indeed a cowboy) and is not contactable to see what he had - a friend of mine just sold his TD and although his garage is stuffed with spares for all makes, I have never tripped over an Alvis lump - six new pistons and a five speed gearbox for a Fiat 130 maybe...
I'm assuming Chris Prince wants silly money?Last edited by GDPR; 11 June 2016, 07:34.

Chris Prince items are not far off Red Triangle price wise. Both can supply most items and obviously have to make a profit. Just not all Alvis owners come with deep pockets, but I guess in the public's eyes anyone with two classic cars is loaded! Just wish it were the case. They should realise I'm just another nutty petrol head with a very tolerant wife.

Our Stag was used in a rescue mission this weekend. We had trapped an abandoned cat that needed to be taken to the vet asap. The cage is too big to fit into my Esprit, the Range Rover is temporarily parked elsewhere and my better halve was away with her VW. So that only left the Stag. The cage was a tight fit on the back seat, and the cat seemed quite relaxed to enjoy a drive in the sun with the top down. :-) She got the care she needed and has happily returned to her familiar surroundings already.Lotus Esprit Turbo SE 'Emma'
