Notwithstanding this would probably have been the Mk1 he was talking about, could this be a reason why some of us have suffered otherwise inexplicable minor coolant losses after fitting a HT?

My Volvo HT, which I have been using now for about 10 years on two Stags, is 1.5kPa (21.7psi) and the coolant stays where it is supposed to. It only let the coolant out when the system was over pressurising due to failing cylinder head gasket.

Took the day off to go paragliding, using Judiths Stag.

Just as well I had Judith following me, as I landed 52km from take off. My radio Radio battery failed, then her phone battery went flat but she improvised by visiting a pub and borrowing a phone charger from one of the staff.
I am now using the P reg Stag most of all as I have virtually done the annual mileage limit in the K reg one by using it for the trip to France.

Hi Chris, can't see where your pressure cap is - have I had too many glasses of wine?

Got a Stagwebber HT with 20psi cap (mine's a Mk2 - 1976) fitted ~1500 miles ago. 50/50 mix of blue antifreeze - once the HT had found its level (overfilled, then out for a decent run), the level has remained the same. Very comforting, as before installation, I was "losing" coolant into the expansion bottle ~200ml every run (independant of number of miles/ type of driving etc). My thoughts at the time, guided by some comments on here, was that there was an air bleed that was allowing air to be drawn back into the main system on cooling, rather than drawing back coolant from the EB which this current experience seems to verify.

A quick question. Did you fit the metal shims with your greenstuff pads. I have just fitted redstuff pads and only used the sticky rubber sheets supplied with them. They are now squeaking quite a bit and was wondering if the shims should be fitted.
            Cheers Rob.
Yes I fitted the metal shims from the old pads, the new ones do have rubber backpads, maybe I should try taking them out. Pads are a little tight still after about 80 miles. Checked new disca with a dial guage, seem ok.

SO what did you you do with your Stag today?

For all the last week and this so far (but I'm told the weather is going down hill tomorrow) I've driven it the 8 miles each way to the rail station, mainly roof down and enjoying using it every day - its how all Stag's should be used and just makes going to work a little more bearable!

Almost every time I park it someone passes a positive comment or stops to chat about it - lovely!

if the discs are ok do the wheels run out as you say you have fitted new hubs? What about the wheel nuts if it's a standard stag alloy they can be troublesome in that they don't centre the wheel very well.

The whheels are ok and I have new studs and recent steel wheel nuts.

I have taken out the shims behind pads and all now seems good, no wobbles! Thanks for advice. Interesting to know if the shims are essential, they dont come with new pads(nor the splitpins) I reused old ones. I will recheck when pads wear a bit. Heading for Porlock hill next week!

The man who had been touching up/respraying my Stag came round at 9am today with the keys to the car as he hadn't realised he could have left them with our Reception when he brought the car back a couple of days ago. At 1st glance he seems to have done a good job, but he warned me I really need a complete new driver's door as his repairs to it will only last for so long.

He only charged me €120 for the whole job (not just the door but other places on the bodywork that had been scratched/damaged that he repaired including a complete wax clean of the whole car).

Drove the car to the place I place snooker, and she ran perfectly, and after a few games drove the Stag home again. Noticed one tyre needs some air, which I will attend to when I fit the new dashcam I acquired in the U.K.

Nice to be home in Tenerife and hear English being spoken again by most of the people I enconter here, even though Spanish is the official language. In Boscombe where we stayed for a fortnight we very rarely heard people speaking English in the Town Centre, it was mostly Polish with Polish shops and Supermarkets in abundance. Our maid who cleaned the room of the B&B we stayed in was Spanish, and in the Pubs and Restaurants we visited most of the staff behind the bar and waiters were foreign. The best food we had was in a Pub/Restaurant called the "Urban Beach" in Boscombe where the guy in charge who really looked after us was a Sicilian.

Enjoyed our holiday though (first time in the Bournemouth area) using mostly the "Yellow & Blue Buses" to get to various places we visited including Christchurch, Poole, Swanage, and the Isle of Wight. We also visited the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, but were driven there in a friends car when they came to visit. The House and grounds are lovely in addition to seeing all the exhibits in the Motor Museum and the whole place is well looked after and the entry cost very reasonable with no extras to pay once inside other than for food & drink, and you can return again anytime in the following 6 days for free.

Nice to be back in Tenerife though and driving the Stag again.

Still having problems with my engine misfire when hot. Replaced the following with new items:

Coil, distributor cap, rotor arm, fuel filter, king lead. No improvement.

Stripped the carbs, cleaned, and rebuilt. No improvement.

Contacted one of our more experienced members who diagnosed the fault over the phone. Now I have to work out how to fix it........
