After locking keys in the boot last week, I have been thinking of ways of including the boot in the central locking. Something I have been reluctant to do in case it fails and I cannot see a way into the boot without an angle grinder.
i bought a couple of fuel flap motors in a scavenge round the scrappie for a few quid, 1 from a BMW E46 and the other from a Skoda Octavia. I used the BMW motor as it screwed in easily to the flange on back panel using a couple of U nuts and posi pan screws. The Skoda motor has a more awkward shaped motor but a strong metal actuator rod, unlike the plastic BMW rod. The rod pokes through the side of the striker into a hole drilled in the nylon lock. Fortunately. the rods swapped over. I have unsuccessfully tried to upload photos, will try again later. An emergency release was fitted in case of problems. I'll let you work that out, as not for publishing on an open forum. Works well. Photos will be uploaded ASAP.

i give up, the photos and forum are on my phone, iPad and pc but it's impossible to load them to the forum from any of them. Never a problem with what's app.

if anyone wants the photos please PM me with your e mail address.

John, I've had a lot of problems uploading photos recently, to the point of downsizing them dramatically.

Love your idea of boot locking/unlocking, let us know how you get on.

Nice run to Exmouth with SWMBO, Daughter and 2 Grandsons. Agreed that eldest grandson (6) would ride in the front on the way there and the younger grandson (4) would enjoy the drive back. Got 4 miles from home, car purring away beautifully. Overtook some cars with a burst of acceleration and kick-down on a dual carriageway, then the engine started to misfire. Eventually cut out completely. Ended up completing the journey home courtesy of the breakdown service. First time with this car in over 8 years and 28000 miles . The breakdown chap confirmed a spark even though the coil was hot (but no hotter than normal). Plenty of fresh fuel in the tank. When we arrived home and the car was unloaded I tried again and it eventually started, ran rough, then cut out again and wouldn't restart. Tried a replacement coil with no success. The car is now in my garage, in disgrace, and I am sitting with a pint of ale looking forward to some troubleshooting tomorrow.

                  Sorry to hear that Dave.

Got mine back today from Robsport after an engine rebuild and new diff and half shafts , very pleased so far he runs like a dream .
I must say I am impressed with that company good old fashion caring service. They did a few bits that they came across that need sorting, but I trust that they will not rip me off their parts prices on the bill are very reasonable and they smiled when they took my money . So I have to take it easy for a while running in the engine then back to Robsport after 400 mile to have the heads torqued down and levels checked

image.jpgAddressed the nsr sticking out further than the RHS 1/2 " diffrence then took ZF gearbox governor apart fitted new seals fitted replacement rear spring . What a mistake car sits far too high 2" diffrence in Spring hight now has positive camber. So tomorrow refit original springs back.

                      Cheers Glenn

Following up from post #847. Car started first time this morning. Drove it for a couple of miles and it was fine. I've been out and completed a 20-mile round trip and still running fine and ticking over smoothly. What was the problem yesterday?

I've ordered a new coil, fuel filter, dizzy cap, rotor arm, etc from LDParts as 'insurance', but I'm puzzled why it refused to proceed yesterday.

Don't ya just love cars Dave My Son went to Cornwall last week, on the way down his car put the MIL light (emissions warning light) on. he Booked it in with the dealers for last Wednesday after driving back and to the dealers with it still on. whilst there it went off They have since checked the system and taken it for a 60 mile test drive and can find no fault with the car.
