Smoke detectors are not linked to a sprinkler / fire retarder so why should a heat detector need to be?
But, it wouldn't take much to make a small sprinkler system, all parts are readily available.
I nearly started up a business installing such systems in houses years ago.
Jeff.
Would be an interesting project, if just a case of teeing off the cold water supply to some heat sensitive spray nozzles on the garage ceiling.
Any links for the nozzles? Ta.

Indeed, think it is called "trace heating", lots of people discovered they needed that on the condensate drains of their new "condensing boilers" during a cold snap...........
Hi Mickey, its just a normal water sprinkler system but dry to avoid the risk of freezing, the sprinkler heads point up instead of down to drain with a pressure valve that opens the flow when a bulb (sprinkler head) breaks but I know what you mean about damage, water damage can do just as much as the fire if not more in some cases.
I only do what the voices in my wife’s head tell me to do!
As u have mentioned this , I remember about 4 yrs ago . It was on the day of leaving for my holiday, thought I would give the stag battery a charge before leaving, it had been on charge about 2 hrs , I just happened to look down the garden, I saw smoke exiting the open small door, I ran into the garage , to find the charger which was on the floor in below the front bumper on fire !!! Managed to unplug it and smothered the charger , this was a so called automatic charger !!! Beware if u use a Polco brand of charger , regards Graham
