But could you afford to fix it I know someone who got rid of his XK Jag because it was at the point where the electrical gremlins started to play havoc with the car and the next service (A major one)was going to be a few grand.

There are a lot of very nice cars in the £30K price range, and many for much less.
Case in point my Maserati, less than £20K, only 16.5K miles from new, totally immaculate, cost the first owner £70K!

Speaking of Mseratis - there was a poor turnout at a Classic Show I visited ealier today in Christchurch, but there was an interesting Maserati and a GT40 (see pics).

Ah the Ford GT40, made in Slough on the trading estate. Sure you all know but the 40 meant it was 40" high.

Was that GT40 a real one? There are quite a few replicas about running Rover V8 engines - in fact, some used to be built in Poole on the same industrial estate where I worked.

Sorry it wasn't a good turn-out for the show - never know from one week to the next how many will turn up, and I think it is the first time it has been at that site.

It's on a Q plate so presumably not.

Genuine ones worth a million or so.

Going back to the thread the stag I'm sure would look better in the flesh. Personally I think changeable items such as tyres and wheels , carpets are cheap options. A new set of hoses would calm the bay down a tad and ofcourse a certain item in the middle would be replaced with its original. This would be negotiated off the price. The colour saturation of the pictures can give you a false impression of the car online.

Hi David - we got there just after 11am and there were only about 5 cars present, so we went for a drink at the local Pub and when we went back the Maserati & GT40 had just arrived and a few others, but less than 20 cars in total, and the only Triumph was a TR8. I think both the Maserati & GT40 were replicas, but there were some original cars including a nice old Austin (Cambridge?) and a Hillman Imp and an attractive Buick converible from the 60s or 70s.

Being not much to see at the site, we caught the bus to Christchurch Quay where we ate lunch then had a wander round the town,
                        the area being very picturesque.
