    Who knows paint colours?

So far I have found (via Halfords) that there were three Browns used on Stags, Maple - which is a yellowy colour, real **** colour: Sienna Brown - which is darker than mine: Russet - which is possibly a Rover colour, but Halfords can't mix that. Mine is a sort of milk chocolate colour. It is not the original colour as according to the plate it was code 73 which is Maple. No wonder it got resprayed !
I still have not found a firm in Suffolk who will use paint colour strips or some electronic sensor to actually match the paint on the car.
    Any knowledge anyone?

Mmmm does look like Russett. But the Maple one is not the colour mixed by Halfords.
Going to try Russett next. Then looks like wont be using Halfords for any paint mixing in future.

You could take a sample of the colour to a car paint specialist for matching. The boot latch cover should be body colour and is small and only held on with 3 screws

I've had good results from http://www.autopaintsbrighton.co.uk who matched my Royal Blue (56) when others failed, they have it as a stock colour so may have Maple.
                  LD334, Royal Blue, TV8, BW35.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Update. Milo, great idea saves taking the whole car BUT my lock/latch cover is a sort of bright electric blue . . also still not found the paint specialist, but got a possible to visit this afternoon.
Halfords mix Maple as I said came out a sort of yellowy yuk. The premix they sell, that he could have told me was on the shelf, comes out brown, might even be the right brown. The Russett could be, but a test spray seems it has too much red in it. Still looking at the drawing board/square one.
LD thanks but Brighton is too far, even if it is the second hottest day of the year!!

Am in Brighton myself and know auto paints Brighton - if you would like me to go see them with any parts you send (small) maybe that might help? or as a later post says - mail order?

                        Cheers

Message for Danian from Mark Killington on FB:
There's a guy on the SOC forum from Stowmarket in Suffolk(Omen?) who is after a paint match for his car, I can no longer post on there as my membership has expired but if someone could tell him it might be worth contacting Industrial Powder And Paint Services in Sproughton Road Ipswich (01473)463333 they might be able to help.

                              Hope this is useful.
