The trouble with this forum is that it gets way too serious at times
Take a look at the Triumph Dolomite forum, you lot could learn a thing or 2
Then people like Tony with all his knowledge won’t bugger off

      Hi Gary,

You are welcome to suggest a different definition of a trader, but it would be unfair on all other traders if Tony is allowed a free pass while all other traders are happy abide by the current agreed rules. However, rules can be changed, there just needs to be a good argument put forward and then it can be considered.

Out of curiosity, what are the main differences that make the Dolomite forum a better place? Perhaps we could introduce those things on here...

Please do let is know what you would like to change, everyone’s wish is after all to make the forum better over time, and change can be good.

Look forward to hearing your suggestions, and Merry Christmas!

      Cheers,
      Joakim

I'll second that Joakim! I see that the Dolomitees have had their share of aggro on the forum and have banned politics for example thus being even tougher than us. Maybe they have some experience with traders adverts too.

I'm a bit concerned about the loss of Tony White's knowledge as I had only seen the sales posts up to now and seem to have missed something

In the Complex where I live (of c.400 apartments), besides permanent Residents, we also have a high turnover of Tourists. Every tourist is given a questionaire to fill and hand in when they leave, and it is my wife (as President) who goes through them all to check how well the Complex is running, what needs to be done to improve things, and also what needs to be done to resolve any recurring problems. A high occupancy rate and returning holiday makers means more money for the Complex, which pays for improvements and keeps Community Charges reasonable.

Perhaps this Forum could have a similar type "Suggestions Box" Thread, to get a consensus of opinion from Members on the reasons why people want to leave, or stop posting, and how it could be made better so that they don't, and existing members are happy to make more use of it and make more useful contributions of their own.

Of course someone (or a panel of people) would have to be appointed to process what is sent in, and put forward any changes that would be beneficial if adopted, and which Admin/Moderators could agree on and implement. Shouldn't be too arduous a task, and there a number of members on this Forum who are also members of other Forums, and perhaps could pass on any good practises they know of on such Forums worthy of consideration by the SOC Forum.

Actions & improvements taken on questionaire responses over the past 7 years in Castle Harbour have seen it being awarded an extra official "star" rating by the Tenerife Tourist Board, so that it is now a 4 Star rated Self Catering Establishment, whereas previously it only had 3 Stars.

If the Stag Forum was awarded a rating, I don't think at present it would come top of any list, but IMHO it is still a good Forum - but with room for improvement in several areas, borne out by the fact that we have lost too many good contibutors and their knowledge in the last couple of years.

          Just my opinion.

            Hi Terry,

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. Some good ideas there, and let’s look into doing some type of suggestion functionality to gather ideas and suchlike to help improve this forum!

            Merry Christmas!

            Cheers,
            Joakim

Makes a lot of sense to me terry, i too was getting a little concerned as to a departure of knowledge from the forum. With that in mind i appreciate any and all that give there time and effort to this club. For me the car is the star and a little give and take with regards these vehicles and there continued existence can't be a bad thing. Have a great Christmas one and all Chris.

I agree with the comments made.
We all have out own opinion, but the problem with most forums is that some users can take things a little too much to heart.
This can then lead to posts that are bitchy for want of a betterdescription.
We must all think about what we are going to post.
If l have a problem with someone then l would contact them via a PM and not on an open forum.
This way we can keep the topic on the car not on personal differences.

Please stay with us Tony. I know the parts activity is more of hobby having been to your place and know your passion to try and keep as many of our classics on the road.
Guys be aware that Tony does have a full time job which also takes him away quite a lot. I have met him and found him most helpful. So let’s be patient and persevere.

I don’t intend leaving the club just won’t be answering any wanted “ads” placed on the forum or listing anything I have for sale using this site.

In reply to people saying I’m hard to get hold they don’t appreciate the amount of calls asking for pictures or I’ll send the money money later and never do which takes up a lot of time.if I have a missed call I ring back but then mostly I have to leave a message.i don’t sell parts full time I have a job full time.

                                Hi Nigel,

In the nearly 25 years I have had my Stag, I have had the Heads off 3 times in total, and had them skimmed twice.
Ist time was the most difficult, and involved cutting through some of the head bolts with a hacksaw.

You say attempts to get your's off the new engine have been unsuccessful, but I am sure that it is possible, and others on here who have had similar difficulties can perhaps advise.
Only when you get them off will you know the full extent of the problem, and if you have been sold a "duff", hopefully you will get some recompence.

Sorry we weren't able to meet up when we visited Bournemouth a couple of years ago, quite enjoyed our visit to that part of the world, and recorded our trip on the video whose Link appears below.
