As promised some pics of my struts. They are 47.5 cms long and the bodies are 26 cms to the top fixing. They are made by Comloc of Leicester and are Varilift gas Springs. I guess struts from a donor car of the same length would suffice.

They do discounts for bulk purchase starting at 6 I believe. So, if we did want to get some it may be worth looking at groupings in areas?
