    Fuel tank woes

Stag failed MOT as I said a few days ago. The fuel tank was leaking and I received my 2nd hand replacement today. All seemed well. After a couple of hrs I went out to check it.

My replacement has a drain plug which the original did not and it had a very very slight leak from the drain plug. I tightened the bolt and it is now worse

Rimmers site show a fibre washer WF524- anyone know what size this is? so I can get one locally. Plus I put more fuel in before the problem arose so I have about 7 gallons in the tank too

    Hi Darren

You can get a pack of various sized fibre washers from your local motor factors, also put some PTFE tape on the thread to make sure it seals correctly.

hi darren, i use a product from loctite called 577.use it all the time for fuel lines in my daily work never ever let me down.i do not rely on washers or ptfe alone.

the product is anaerobic and i trust it completely even on high pressure fuel delivery systems, just wipe on and allow some time to cure.

      good luck steve.

That Loctitestuff sounds brilliant, can it be got retail ? A point worth mentioning, Triumph seem to have used ******* sized fibre washers in the fuel system and brakes, none of the dozens I've bought have ever fitted anything, example, banjo unions at the fuel pump, the washers have to come from Burlen or similar, a minor point but very frustrating. Martin.
