hi roger, very interesting info. would be of great help if as you say you might be able to get details on this fixing arrangement. would make transition and design and fab work much easier.the whole seat looks to be leather but as you say on checking the back pannel may not be ,i have coulered ambla before and found it quite durable.

    thanks steve............

      Hi Steve/ Darren

As I do not have access to the drawings now could you let me know the pitch of the track and the length of the tracks of the seats you have

The tracks are manufactured by Brose and the seat assembly is by Lear. On the front of the tracks on the newer Jags there is a heavy metal pressing rivetted onto the track to suit which model.

The annoying thing is I threw a load of these parts away in the skip before I left Jaguars

        Hi everyone

I have been reading this with interest

Jaguar leather comes from mainly two suppliers Eagle Otterwa and Persubo

Both dye the leather at the tanning stage which goes through many processes to achieve the standards and quality required.the leathercan be redyed at a later stage but remember this ispaint which etches into the coating and will ware in time

        Roger,

most of what you say is true, Eagle Ottawa based in Warrington (until xmas now bust) Hungary and mainly the US supply leather to Jaguar but this is only the low grade material used in the X type and S Type, the better grade leather is as you say supplied from Italy by conceria Pasubio and is used in the more up market Jaguar cars which would have included the XJS. I have the current leather from Pasubio who also sell to Bentley, if the leather on the seats shown is any thing like thehides I have then then it will be of excellent quality and will probably outlast the owner!

            Hi Nick,

if only she did, we could all have a share. I did think for one moment that the old 'car for a friend' was a smoke screen but alas we shall have to wait a little longer for your triumphant return.

did you read all the way down this thread past the videos. There was a reply from a 'Julie' who seemed to be a professional leather worker whosaid often you can get problems after a time when you dye cream to black as any small surface cracks that develop show the cream thru. She recommended a 'back to black' that actually dyes the leather blackbefore you spray on the black colouring.

May be worth looking into this, - Alan

PS. sorry to hear of your Daughter's accident, hope she recovers soon

                        Who wants leather anyway!

(they are not mine - found on the web). They had to modify the top seatbelt mountings as the seat was very high - scary!

                            Yes, they're mine!

In their defence, they look much more plain in reality, for some reason the digital camera has "enhanced" the patterns.

They're very comfy, and cost £20!

Cheesy - any plans for the rear seat?

The profile and style suits the Stag really well - did you have to modify the runners - do they tilt?
