Rover V8's in stags

My Stag does still have the TV8. I have been stupid with it recently and had cause to have the left head off. Before I bought the car it already had a high mileage, 193,000 miles but had been regularly and properly maintained over a long period. So my first attempt tocorrect my stupidity was to fix the existing engine. When looking for the carI didn't mind which V8 the car was going to have and if I ever have to replace the engine it would be a close call. I like the thought of originality but also admire Monstag, Sax Playerand all the other RV8cars. there's room for all and as said already any Stag still on the road has got to be good for us all (except rarity value I suppose)

If you went to a classic car show and all the stags were as they left the factory ,what are you going to talk about?

The modified ones always interest me even if i don't like what they have done.

Yep ,i plan not to get in to major body restoration,I'd rather take a hit on mine and buy another stag with better bodywork when mine falls apart.

I know these issues are to be expected when running an old car but I am fed up of paying out good money for poor parts and crap service trying to keep the car looking good and running.

Dave one thing I have learnt with cars is you very rarely win.

I have just sold my three year old Jeep as it has ran out of warranty and I had lost all faith in it.

Less than sixteen thousand miles in three years

Broke down five times (Tow truck)

Had a new turbo two times

Spent seven weeks (yes seven weeks) in the local Jeep dealership being repaired and still came out broken and had to go back again.

(I took the opportunity to trade it in while it was still working; unfortunately the guy who bought it from the dealer phoned to say it had broken down again) still under warranty so my conscience was clear.

It sounds like you have had ten years of the stag and spent a load of cash but I can tell you the grass is not greener on the other side, you get crap parts on new cars as well and also crap workmanship.

well that was a healthy debate, sounds like the RV8 is ok if you like it and not ok if you dont - glad thats settled
