The Stag was running at normal temp until we left the M25 and approached the double roundabout at the top of the slip road, I noticed the gauge was coming up to M mark and before we got through the second roundabout it was well in the red. Pulled over on the hard shoulder a.s.a.p. and it was really boiling. 3or 4 of the lads passing by after stopped and offered several flavours of their drinking water (thanks to you all) and we put in about 4litres. Then Russ was on his way back home after his run with us from Clacketts and doubled back to see if he could help (thanks again Russ) finally cooled a little and we made it to Brands. Had to leave the car as there was a lot of paperwork and passes to sort out which gave it time to cool right down, checked the water again and seemed O.K. no water in oil, so decided to have the track run, would have been totally gutted to miss it after all the sorting out. The car ran fine and temp stayed normal. Managed to get another 2 litres in before we left for home and it seems to have stabilised now, so where did 6 litres of water disappear to? Had a look tonight and when you squeeze the top hose you can hear air being drawn back into the system, I think from the pump which I rebuilt about 500mls ago and skimmed the impeller. Now don't know whether to strip it down again of try the magic K seal - there can't be much wrong with the pump. Ideas?

Not as bad though as another of our lads from W.Sussex who had a head gasket go at Pease Pottage meeting point.

Thinking about it I was following you on the M25 as we left Clacketts as you accelerated there was a puff of smoke/steam from the exhausts, probably not a lot of help really

Hi Bob

Just a thought from what you said about loosing 6 litres ofcoolant and what Phil said could coolant be leaking from the inlet manifold into the block???

I may be totally wrong

It is a possibility, but I think it is the seal from the pump, I have been looking with dentist mirrors and a small light to try and find the source. Now I just remembered the the M.O.T. is booked in for Friday so I had better put it back together again:X

Hi Everyone

If you watch Daves video on youtube you will notice that Colin caught me on film following Dave, I myself held back on occasions and gave it a blast round the track, you will notice that we had to bunch up now and again which was a shame, but caught on video is the one time I nearly lost my Stag, :shock:when after a nice bit of speed around the track we had to come to almost a halt and the person coming up at speed and Raj folllowing him just missed my rear end and over shot the queue as caught on Video.

One very lucky Stag Owner

I am trying to get an HD version up on youtube but the software that came with my HD camcorder seems to only export standard definition. Does anyone know of some cheap, i.e. free software that will convert .MTS files into something 'normal' so I can edit them and view them back on my PC at high def?
