If you havent seen your wife for 12 years, does she still want to see your brother?

Sorry, was I missing something perhaps I should stick to mechanical stuff not relationship stuff.

Just as an aside to this, you should see the hoops I've had to go through to get my medical resinstated so that I can fly again.
Did you have to wear a gym kit to go through them Tim?

      The mind boggles.....

It has been my wish for some time to take my PPL, but usually cash flow has been an issue so I have just contented myself with grabbing an hour dual at Redhill on their Super Cub, or my wife's cousins PA28 when the urge gets too much.

I assume that achieving medical status for a PPL is attainable, but not without obstacles then?
      Russ,

no gym kit....forms, forms more forms and Gatwick CAA medical branch.

Medical would be no problem but more checks than normal. As said, NPPL an option but only if you want to fly uk registered aircraft in uk airspace, which for some is ok, but I go further afield.

I'll happily take you up one day, maybe get a couple of friends together and do a channel islands trip for the day.

      Tim
That sounds like a great idea - any room in the glovebox to take a Stag with us?

It would seem your relationship with reality is strained.....

Thanks to everyone who has posted suggestions - I'll let you know how I get on, as it would appear I'm not alone with medical issues..... are we all old farts?

          Russ,

How did you get on in the end? I got a quote for £86 excluding heart and £886 including heart. Not one of the companies actually catered for the fact it happened and was sorted. I'm waiting on Al's recommendation to get back to me.

Well, I'm sorted. Many thanks to Al and his recommendation. I can honestly say that when it comes to travel insurance with a pre-existing condition :

            MARCUS HEARN ROCKS......

£39.81 for an Annualworldwide (incl. USA & Canada) family of 4 policy and an extra £20 to cover me for anything heart related.

I nearly needed an ambulance to treat me for the shock

Well done Al for coming forward with this.

Shame I won't be needing it yet-awhile as had to cancel/postpone the Canada trip due to close family bereavement.....

Will remember this though, coz I will be going sometime!!
