        I got away without new washers but I did benefit from orderingnew drag strut to wishbone bolts BH607201(together with nuts GHF224) and new drag strut nuts GHF275. If you buy 4 GHF224s you'll find they fit the link assembly that has to be removed as well (not on diagram)

          This is the point like you I really want to do the job properly like all the nice Stags you see on here and at the shows but;

          A) do not have the money right now

          B) Love driving my car to much!

          I see a lot people on here doing full rebuilds and having immaculate cars I suppose I get jealous!

          You know my story re paintwork etc. Lost the use of my car on many sunny days whilst it was being sorted and I was still unhappy with the end result, whos to say the paintwork will be right this time?

          My Stag is off the road again due to head problems, hoping to get the old ones off shortly and fit the replacements, car is also booked in to have some really necessary rust removal around the windscreen gutters in April so it looks like it will be May before its truly back on the road. Have vetted thebody shop but Ive done that before to no avail. Getting to the point with mine that its gonna have to go soon due to lack of use.

              Here is my fourpenneth for what it is worth.

              Purchase a full set of dirty front suspension from a breaker or off flea-bay. Overhaul it and then do the swap over to your car. Hopeully you should be able to do the actual exchange in a week if you take a couple of days off work. That way the work gets done but you minimise the time you have the car off the road. You can then sell the front suspension assembly off your car or keep it for spares.

              Do the welding in the autumn/winter.

                Stu,

                Get her back on the road asap, then over summer save up and do the permanent fix over winter,Im 3 years into my rolling restoration, i use the car for as much of the year as i can then when the worst of the weather is about i get that years jobs done.I don't now how long it will take me to get her in the condition i want but at least im still enjoying her at the same time.

                  This is what I do all the time that way the car is not off the road for to longand I have plenty of spares to keep her on the road, this weekend I am replacing the ball joints,plus uprated link arm, ps/rack, and new lower springs front and back, and after lunch slide in some datsun drivesharfs.

                  Well thats the plan

                    Thanks for the replies and I have managed to get paid and not be in the red for once in my life

                    I will order the parts and get it fixed during April holiday ready for Prescott

                    PROBLEM IS! If the lad wins the cup semi final on Sunday the Final is the same day as Prescotthe is the captain so has to be there!! I hope wins but also hope he doesn't!!!:?

                      I didn't know that finances came in any other colour than red

                      Glad to hear that your sorted and will back on the road soon

                      Still waiting on my mate to come back off his jollies then it shouldn't be long for me, should have my rear suspension rebuilt by the end of the week, i just hope i can remember how it all goes together plus i have to refit the interior once the welding is complete
