ATF Preferred Type & Top-Up

My ATF could do with a top up and was wondering what make / type / number us auto folk use? With previous auto's ive had you just topped it up via the dipstick tube, is this the case with the Stag BW35??

only ever topped mine up once didnt look at the make of it and put it down the dipstick tube, i think thats the only way to fill an auto box.

Hi Russell.

The only thing I have picked up on since being on the forum isDO NOT use a Dexron II or III type fluid as these are not suitable for the BW35.

I have picked it up at the local motor factors and Allparts with no problems, did find that if your not careful and end up at "Halfords" they would tell you that the modern fluids would be ok for "older gearboxes" a big NO NO!

Should last you forever Russell unless you end up with an horrendous leak!!!!!!!!

Hiya Russell, if you decide to change your fluid, leave it to drain overnight, the faulty non-return valve will allow the torque converter to partially empty, then you'll need about 6 1/2 litres. Is your fluid red, maroon or brown ? Martin.

Hi mate, was just topping up as i have a slight (very slight, not sure where from yet) leak, so was on the bottom level so ive topped it up, but its red alright
