    HI,

    Since getting new chains fitted I am thinking of having an oil change.

    I fancy getting Valveline Vr1, The cheapest I have seen is at my local Eurocarparts Motor factors at £31.99 not cheap by anymeans. Anyone know where I can get a deal,...need to stock more then the 5 litre can for top up purposes.

    I remember Russ saying they use it for races V8's in the States. My friends say i drive the Stag like an old man, well after the new Webber,chains, and uprated shafts I think I will start driving( like most of you guys) and enjoy the Stag a bit now.

    Will be49 on Tuesday:shock:time to live dangerously:dude:

      Thanks for the info Russ, I'vealways wondered why it used ATF, I thought it was just so there was yet another grade/type of fluid I had to keep. At last count I've got 2 types of ATF, 5 different grades of engine oil, 2 lots of gear oil, DoT4 and DoT5 brake fluid and some hydraulic fluid,oh and 2 sorts of anti-freeze.:shock::shock:

      Now perhapswe had better sendour anoraks up north to G_CAM to keep him warm, "its always cold" up there apparently.

        Just to follow on from my previous posting.
        Yesterday I put a can of the Wynn's into My auto Stag box,what a difference.Even though I had the box rebuilt a few years ago it still leaked(a little) and was not the smoothest of gear changes.
        Went for a drive with Bristol Stag Club to Cheddar yesterday and it has transformed the car,far smother gear change and no oil leaks.

                        I had a phone call and a email from a very helpful person from Wynn Oil UK Ltd today

                        And the answer with regards to using Wynn's in a manual gearbox with overdrive is as follows

                        The principle is that HPLS can be used in all manual gearboxes, except when it contains a system with coupling discs ( in limited slipp diff ) in those cases the EP additive could act on the surface of the discs and make them slip when friction is needed. If overdrive is switched by the means of synchromesh like other gears there is no problem, but if switched by coupling it would be a problem, also in systems with wet clutches it is advised not to use HPLS.

                          So that's a big "No don't do it" then as the Laycock OD's need friction to work
