    Hi Chris,

Nice 'Stang. The reg no is from Devon. I thought I recognised it so have spent some time browsing through car show pictures. Eventually found this one which is HDV386D. This beast has a supercharger fitted and can be heard miles away

Hi Chris, just thought I would add my appreciation of the Mustang to the list ! I've loved them since I saw the first ad in the early sixties, as Andy said, a thing of beauty. Thegreat thingabout them was the options list, as long as your arm and twice as thick as I'm sure you know - lovely ! :dude: Martin.

Love the Mustang! One of the things that I have always promised myself 'one day' is either a Mustang or a Dodge Challenger, but not instead of the Stag!
Drive a Stag every day... it's wonderful!

there seem to be a number on here with other great cars - Mustangs and E Types as well as a Stag! I am quite jealous - these would all be in my dream garage

I had a mate in W.A. who had a '57 Chevvy BelAir, turquoise and white 4 door, cheap then 'cos it was just an old car, any decision between that and a pony car would be a nightmare. Martin.

Thanks for the very positive comments guys!

The Stag is my fun car, used mainly thoughout the summer. I think its still going to get a lot of the use as the Mustang does need work, before I'm happy to use it. It always amazes me what some people consider as safe when it comes to the condition of steering, brakes and suspension. Its also had some 'additional wiring' added and its powered by the use of crocodile clips to the battery.

Thanks for the information on the registration DJT. That fastback looks amazing!

As Martin suggests, the list of options is amazing and better still, are easily added now - 40+ years later. I plan to give it a Shelby look, but not alter the running gear dramatically - just make it safe.

I went for a run in an Eleanor replica. Below is a video clip I made where we drove through the Hatfield tunnel... turn it up and enjoy!

I guy I worked with in Melbourne, had a genuine ex Hertz Shelby, he had restored it perfectly, right down to the period Hertz sticker in the rear window. It had the registration "RENTER".

                      Cheers

Nice one Chris and I have to say it sounds better than the Stag to me. How did the replica handle compared to yours?

Ah the Hertz Shelbys - I'd love one of those! It was well documented at the time that the 'rent-a-racers' were often taken down to the drag strips at the weekends and raced. A few also ended up in garages and had their Shelby engines swapped out for standard V8's because it was difficult to actually tell the difference visually!

I rented the new version of the Hertz Shelby a couple of years ago - based on the 2008 Ford Mustang. It was fantastic! Black with Gold Stripes, like the original car, it went like stink and made an fantastic noise!

As for the Eleanor Replica - it had stiffened suspension and it handled like it was on rails - very unusual for a Mustang! The amount of attention it got, as we drove about was amazing. I'd love one!

NAH ! not enough Mustang in it, looks the biz though. Martin.
