Sump to Clutch Housing Strap and Bracket

I can see from a previous thread (https://socforum.com/forum/forum/sta...er-replacement) the consensus that the brackets connecting the sump to the clutch housing are some form of anti-vibration measure or somesuch.

Looking at mine, these aren't bolted together on either side of the sump - and it looks like they are not in sufficient alignment to just slip a bolt through.

So now I'm wondering how important are these are and, if it's desirable to have these things bolted up, how easy it's going to be to get these properly aligned?

Irrespective of whether you need them or not, I would be concerned that the holes don't line up. If I recall correctly, the alloy angle brackets have to be fitted to a specific side in a specific orientation - maybe they are fitted incorrectly? If that is the case, then swap them over, pop the bolts through , and forget whether they're needed or not.
