From what your saying to start with i think it really is related to oil pump and oil and filter. I dont think anything to do with the work they have carried out its simply that its not been on the road long and problems are likely for a while. Unless it has a record of it then change the oil pump, filter, oil. County pumps are not expensive and its not a big job but you will need to tel them to reuse the original pressure relief spring as the new pumps are for Saab and the springs a bit strong for the Stag. Unless anyone knows if that's changed? If you can afford it get an oil pressure gauge, its best.
    good luck!

I'd be looking at the wiring they disturbed behind the dash, could be a poor connection or bad earth somewhere.
Oil pressure still wants checking though, just in case.

Thanks all. Looks like it'll be a careful and slow drive to the garage on Thursday then (unless some kind soul in Bristol has an oil pressure gauge and fancies a look!).

But when he revs the light goes out and when the engine warms on tick over the light comes on again? Dont think that's wiring some how.

Change the pressure switch! You’ve already ordered a new filter, why didn’t you order a sender unit at the same time? They are cheap enough and you could have combined postage: http://www.ldparts.co.uk/shop/shop.p...6860d6260ea912

Eliminate the simple things before panicking about engine rebuilds.

I had a dodgy pressure switch on my range rover - rover v8 I know but almost exactly the same symptoms as OP.

no oil pressure on a stag would have rattly chains and all sorts especially at idle. if it is quiet it might lower blood pressure until gauge or new sender can be fitted.

dont drive it until you check it though

Vibrations from the engine could make and break poor connections, the sender wire is connected to the engine.
