    Hi

I recently fitted the secret spoiler as I was concerned about temps. Easy to fit, but unfortunately I did not notice any difference in running temps.

I'm still running my newly rebuilt engine in but I have an electric water pump with controller 88oC setpoint, electric fan 91oC setpoint, no engine driven fan and I've just fitted a secret spoiler. It's too early to tell but i find that lower speeds, say 30 -40mph around town (not stop start traffic but busy roads) I find the fan cutting in, as soon as I'm able to go a bit faster the fan is no longer needed. I don't know what sort of radiator I have, it is a 4 row. I'm thinking that a radiator with less air flow resistance might be a good idea? It's going back to Ward's next week for it's 500 mile check so I'll talk this over with them but I'd be interested in opinions.

I fitted a ‘Secret Spoiler’ and found it helps on motorway runs.

Previously on the motorway the temperature would climb steadily higher. This is not a problem if you leave the motorway and return to lower speeds because temperature will return to normal. However, if you encountered traffic the car was already hot and the fan didn’t seem to cool things down.

The ‘Secret Spoiler’ stops things getting too hot in the first place.

I seem to recall Metalmickey commenting on the effect of spoilers some time ago indicating that the spoiler, having a lower bottom edge to it, effectively created a vacum below the engine area which caused air to be drawn through the grilles rather that relying on the ram effect displacing air.. Made sense to me I must admit.

Which radiator do you have? Mine is a rather think 4 core (inline) that seems to have quite a high air resistance.
