    No such thing as a stupid question. Yes the springs are still the same as these twist the base plate to advance the ignition controlled by the electronic ignition

      Depends.

      Lumenition systems simply replace the points, ignition advance/retard is still mechanical via the bob weights.

      I don't think Lumenition ever made a fully programmable ignition system where the distributor advance/retard was locked out and the electronic "map" took over.

      There are other makes that can do that.
      Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

        Best way of thinking of a Lumenition module is that is just makes nicer sparks than the points that it replaces do. The rest of the distributor will need to work as it does with points as the Lumenition has no inteligence.

            No, Lumenition and other after-market electronic fittings just replace the points. They still rely on the vacuum and mechanical advance. You need a programmable electronic system to manage the advance. Many of the genius members on here who fit electronic fuel injection go this route, because they have complete electronic engine management.
