Further Stromberg carbs float chamber question?

No - I will not be fitting a Weber, but tomorrow going to remove the carbs again and examine them in more detail, particularly the choke mechanism.
I am determined to get to the bottom of the problem, the strombergs have worked fine for me for nearly 25 years now, so I am not just going to give up on them.
Have printed out the carb article a couple of members on here sent me links to, and going to read it in full to see if it helps with the diagnosis.

Just a quick update, had a good look round the carbs this morning before taking them off and did notice that the plastic top of the temperature compensator was not on properly (probably got knocked when disconnecting the RH fuel pipe), so put it back, and tried starting the car again, and lo and behold she fired up straight away.
Have run the engine for a while and decided to re-route the fuel pipes to the carbs as I wasn't happy with where they where.
Couldn't see anything else amiss, and restarted the car several times without a problem, so I am going to wait till she cools down again before attempting another restart, later tonight, and again tomorrow morning.
Will report back - I think it was John (Koy 23) mentioning the Weber that prompted them to say "No Way, we're going to work"!.

That's great news Terry lets hope you've got it sussed. We just had our first dose of salt on the roads round here, just been to the Junction and back focus covered in salt. How i envy you out there in Tenerife.
