When I stripped my car for bodywork restoration there was no speedo cable attached to the drive. My car is one of the last to be built and I am the only owner. Were later cars fitted with a different electonic system.

Further to my previous post I have checked the speedo and I am really stuck for words. There was certainly no speedo cable when I started the strip down but I have no recollection of the cable being removed. See attached a picture of the rear of the speedo. I assume the attachment with the cable id tags is the 10v stabiliser. This is item No 53 on the wiring diagram. Can anyone advise it"s purpose.
