Good one Julian!

I thought that being glad to see someone's back meant something else!!

Once again, thanks for all of your comments.

You may have seen on another post that I mistakenly took the lower wishbone strut rubbers to be the track control arm bush (138885) however I note that this item is not in the list of rubber parts you mention.

It was these that I replaced a year ago and which merited a, justified, advisory in my MOT a year later.

Do you know if any supplier produces good quality track control arm bushes ? (I note that it's not a component that LDparts supply unfortunately)

          Cheers

          Hello Julian

We believe that the ones currently on eBay (as of the date of this post) are of good quality. The same item may be available from other sources. The SOC Technical Advice Coordinator says: "In my opinion this is a good place to fit the polyurethane type - they last much longer, work better, and have no nasty side-effects".

            Hi Phil(ip),

Ooh, I'd never buy anything significant for my Stag from Ebay ! - I stick to the main suppliers for almost all my parts.

However, the ones which have failed after less than a year came from one of the reputable suppliers so I'll be interested to see how the ones I've just replaced look in a year's time.

            Cheers

            Julian

No, I haven't been very visible on here for a while due to other commitments. I keep pecking away at the Forum backlog and am about five pages in arrears at the moment. I just happened to spot the SOCTFL article, the door locks one, finished off a response to Stimpy and posted quick response to you there and then.

Indeed, the car got through the MOT with no advisories. I was quite pleased and had to make a trip in to Inverness (in the Mondeo) the next day to change the taxation class to 'Historic'. Delighted, to say the least. That's three years of work on the road again, but as time is tight, I haven't had much of an opportunity to take any decent piccies yet, so here's what I have thus far:

              Don't that exhaust sound great?

Still some bits to finish off - steering seems a bit dead in the straight ahead position, which may be down to shims at the hub (there were none) so when I get round to it I may post a fresh thread on here to find out a little more about those before I dive in. And I have a clackety/clicking sound coming from No 6 which needs investigating. A loose valve stem guide was changed there during the refurbishment, so though I'm fearing the worst, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It looks like I'll be employing the old rope trick there, though..

Also there's a rainwater leak from the hard seal under the front of the hardtop. They're all teething bits and I'll just have to knock them off one by one, but she's not finished running in yet.

Anyhoo - better go and get on with the rest of the stuff.

              With best wishes,
              Duncan

Looks great well done. I look forward to seeing the finished article at the National. :-)

(Sorry for hijacking the thread folks - you can carry on now )

                Dear Dave and Julian,

Many thanks for your comments. I've got to get that 'tappety' noise fixed and a hood fitted before considering the National, and a couple of core plugs have started to let by so I'm not ready for an long trip south yet. There's still a lot of things pulling me in different directions and it all has to be fitted in, But best efforts..

                Take care and many thanks,
                Duncan
