Last 3 letters of zephyr.
The zephyr ones seem well made.
Well spotted Julian!. Strange thing is I have about 6 pictures of the pump taken at different times and they all only show those letters. Sods law in action. It certainly seems good. That was taken at about 120K miles and there was no noticeable wear. I had to replace the jackshaft recently (150K miles) because of wear on the distributor/oil pump drive gear, but the water-pump gear was still fine.
Here is a pic of one from a Triumph Dolomite - not sure if it was an 1850 or a Sprint, but they are all the same. Stamped with U PA. Sent to me by a member of the Triumph Dolomite Club/forum. Will try to find out its history.

Now Stagless but have numerous car projects
So many cars, so little time!
Bump , anymore known good/ hard water pump markings?
2nd request for stag waterpump hardness details that I had today
Machine shop should be able to gauge hardness but that is not cheap.
Some suggest a diamond file, if it doesn't mark then apparently fabulous.
Buying from a reputable source is no guarantee when it comes to good old New Old Stock - recovered from a skip 30 years ago and now being resold etc etc etc
Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony
I took parts to Wallwork to be heat treated.
They hardness tested some nos parts for reference…. They also did sprocket material check.
Wallwork have various locations.
I used (braved) Birmingham Small Heath
