Thanks both, reassuring to know that my current 'low' oil pressure still falls within the 10 psi per 1000 rpm metric.

Its not necessary.
Understand that your engine was recently rebuilt & you wish it to last.
If you are lucky a gauge or lamp might save you from further wear or damage.
As Richard says RV8s will run without knocking for a lot of miles at low pressure.
I think that’s similar with a stag.
But, high oil pressure in a stag is bad for the cam drive & jackshaft bearing.
Once the jackshaft bearing is worn, the oil flow escapes there & cannot really be compensated for apart from sleeving & re machining.
A while back David Firth got a hundred new PRV springs made to his design…. To suit his needs / hypothesis regarding high load pull always when towing.
Think they are all gone.
It might be possible to get some more alternative or standard springs wound…. But you need to be ordering quite a few to make it viable. Bigger effort & cost than most will take on.
Have tried to wind a few prv springs myself too. Some degree of success but as yet untested
It would seem that one of our specialists has… and you know all about that already.
2 years ago I ordered sample springs for a work project… one quote came in at $1100 for 1-10 quantity springs !!!Last edited by jbuckl; 25 October 2022, 20:00.

For info, this picture shows three OE springs compared with the ones David Frith had made (bottom one). One of which has been in my engine for many years.
