Ignition Light stays on

Yup looks like a normal lamp. Might be worth a continuity check if you have a multimeter while you have it on the bench.

Here’s a tip for anyone like me, who have fingers like pigs tits. The bulbs in that cluster are small & fiddly, so I used a short section of windscreen washer tube to snugly fit over the bulb glass, which provides enough friction to screw the bulb in or out when it’s in close proximity to others in the cluster.

I'm making the most of my membership this weekend... :-)

I KNOW there's no logical reason to mention this, but yesterday I replaced the Brake/Rear light bulb (offside) on my car - all straightforward. But in the wild extremes that it might be relevant...

Went for a shortish drive after the bulb fitting and at some point noticed the Ignition light was staying on. No revving of the engine or speed changes made any difference. Left the car in the garage for a while and started up again - same issue. The battery terminals are clamped onto tightly, the fan belts both taut and spinning well.

Does this mean the alternator is the culprit, or is there anything else to check? Not sure how old it is or if it's been replaced by previous owners (need to go through the files) - Suggestions anyone? Cost of a replacement isn't huge (about £80.00). How much of a pain is fitting?

Jus to close this out - Turned out that it was the Alternator - replaced it with advice and guidance from Goldstar, especially (Greatest thanks!) - got a 75amp model from Bowers in Stoke on Trent. (Always buy more than you need) FIrst one delivered had clearly been returned to them with some damage to the pully and a couple of the bolts - wasn't very happy wih that, naturally, but replaced overnight with a proper new one. All working well - though yet to test it on a run. Which I hope to do imminentaly!
