    I eventually found a relay from China with a variable delay which could be re-triggered and fitted 2 of them.

      NeilR I think I can follow the circuit diagram, unless it is very complex. Could you please share it? I have also seen a solution that uses a capacitor and resistor to keep a relay coil energised momentarily, which might should do the same job. The DRL being wired through the normally closed contacts.

        Yes, that would work - if you have access to a lab with a store of components so you can try it out and fine tune it. I lost that facility when I retired.

          Here you go, it's not complicated. Resistor, 12R 5W, would not be needed if you used normal side/tail LED's, only for my home made ones.
          Obviously, you would need two of these, one for each side.
