Yours was done very nicely John, did Russ help to sort it out after your doomed excursion into alternative carburation? I’ve got one of the Keith Barnicle/Tony Hart kits sitting in the shed with an engine in the garage to fit it to - eventually.
Thanks Russ R.I.P.

Yes Russ helped, as did Neil. Russ rebuilt the engine a few years ago and it has good drivability from cold and goes very well, I estimate it’s giving out around 180 BHP..
Thanks Russ R.I.P.Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

I had a Swedish mistress for two years (a Volvo 1800 shooting break) it had Bosch Jetronic injection. Nice enough once id learnt how to clean and service the injectors and learn what on earth pintal caps were. But it was still more like a (very lovely) tractor rather than a sports car. Carbs seem the way to go.

I designed and made my Stromberg throttle body EFI a few years ago, and I thought it was quite a good mod. and was pretty cheap too. My next EFI was the Holley Sniper 2300 conversion which I did for a guy in the USA, as Holley prices there are obviously cheaper than the UK. I did find the fuelling was very well controlled over the full range of operation.
My next idea was to use motorcycle throttle bodies as they are so cheap in used form, come with throttle bodies, fuel rail, and injectors and are already engineered. The idea is to eliminate the original inlet manifold as that limits performance, and can be a pain to fit and get a good seal. The dizzy is in the way, and it seems sensible to convert to wasted spark so thats now ready too.
All parts are ready to fit and test, but unless I get some help to inject () some momentum, it's probably not going to get finished any time soon.

Autotune can help but it can throw a tune way off, the best way is a rolling road with an operator that knows the engine, the injection system and what the customer wants.

Just following on from Chris' post above I suggest you have a read of this: https://socforum.com/forum/forum/sta...efi-up-running
The system is still running fine. I have been planning to add a wasted spark system and I have all components ready to fit but work and life in general has got in the way. Hope to get back to it early next year.

I ran autotune with the Holley Sniper and it seemed to work perfectly. But getting the cold starting and warm up mixture tuned was a bit tedious.
I use a Speeduino ECU with my own EFIs but you could use Megasquirt or any other programmable ECU. These guys sell them DIY-EFI – Bringing you EFI solutions on a budget
