when i started my rebuild last year ,after it bieng laid up for 17 years , i thought i would have it ready by spring this year i have been buying bits and pieces from ld parts ,brilliant service , but i keep finding problems like rear shocks are gone ,brakes seized ,brake cable shot so now it is jacked up off the ground with looking to rebuild the whole underneath , instead of going forward ive gone backwards , i was peed off at first buti have given myself a goal now for next year , do a pucker job on it and then enjoy the car in my retirement ,if i can afford to after spending on my hobby ,that is how i look at the car now , i have owned it for nearly thirty years , ,

after reading the posts and looking at some of the fantastic cars you lot have ,it has geed me up to get mine done , as looking at the stags on this site i have realised i have something special , cheers

Been at the point you are at several times during my 14 years of Stag ownership. My advice is go for a ride in someone elses Stag whilst yours is off the road andthink aboutwhat you would miss if you sold yours and then decide.

Its a tough place you are at. I love my stag and last year after two new clutches, I tried to get Favershams to fit a third and work-out what rogue part was giving me the problem. They cancelled the booking twice and I got the hump and bought the TVR..

Today, the Stag gets used occasionally and I still really like it. The money gets bugger all in the bank, values are not strong,so I am not going it sell it.

          Adrian,
hang in there I bought my car in Sept 08 transported from Florida to California then started to work on it. After doing all the suspension, brakes and drive train bushings etc I thought I was ready to go then found I had to remove the heads which I am working on now and I still have a major electrical problem to fix before I can get it on the road. Most of my parts have to come from the UK I am still looking at another 3 months before I can get it started up and test drive it. I do all my own work but one day when I drive it up on the coast road with the top down it will be well worth it.

          cheers Stuart
